Hyundai Engineers Show Off Flying Car, WOW sounds interesting
In what can be described as a sort of a leap forward, Hyundai engineers demonstrated a concept flying car which uses 16 rotors to keep 1 man in the air. Hyundai has been known to be conducting contests within its R&D office to come up with innovative new solutions. While the flying car is just a concept, this step definitely proves the interest of auto giants in coming up with new ways to get around.
This invention does not have a name yet (chances are it probably won’t) and was seen hovering over a car park with a test crash dummy sitting at the center as an engineer wearing a cape controlled it remotely from a distance. Hyundai has been busy showcasing new (and whacky) designs created by their people in an annually held Idea Fest and their flying car is just one of many things they have come up with.
Whether or not this flying car will prove to be the next big thing depends on if Hyundai sees this as a business opportunity to expand into. The device in its current iteration looked more like a reconnaissance drone rather than a car so clearly a lot of work needs to be done to make it more family friendly. However if their E4U “Egg Car” is any indication, they could give it a fantastic shape if they really wanted to.
Anyways all of you Star Wars fans out there now have something to look forward to; maybe your speeders are not that distant a dream as you might think!
